Camp Atwater is operated by the Springfield Urban League, Inc., whose administrative and youth development teams provide year-round management, oversight, and support to ensure the camp’s continued excellence and impact. Together with the camp’s seasonal leadership and program staff, this dedicated team creates a safe, enriching, and memorable experience for every camper.
Administrative & Year-Round Staff (Urban League)
These professionals manage operations, partnerships, and logistics throughout the year, ensuring that Camp Atwater remains aligned with the mission and values of the Urban League.
President & Chief Executive Officer, Springfield Urban League – Provides leadership for Camp Atwater, ensuring alignment with the Urban League’s mission of education, empowerment, and youth development. Yvette M. Frisby
Business and Operations Director – Provides overall leadership and vision for Camp Atwater; oversees camp strategy, partnerships, alumni engagement, and alignment with the Urban League’s youth and education programs. Kimberly Williams

Seasonal Staff (Summer Leadership & Program Team)
During the camp season, an experienced team of educators, youth professionals, and college students bring Camp Atwater to life. They uphold the camp’s long tradition of excellence, mentoring, and community.
Camp Director – Provides on-site leadership and supervision of all camp operations; ensures a safe, structured, and fun environment for campers and staff.
Program Director – Designs and oversees recreational, cultural, and educational activities that reflect Camp Atwater’s mission and history.
Senior Counselors – Supervise cabin groups and provide mentorship to junior counselors; manage daily schedules and camper well-being.
Junior Counselors – Engage directly with campers, lead activities, and serve as role models for teamwork, leadership, and personal growth.
Lifeguards and Waterfront Staff – Ensure camper safety during swimming and water-based activities.
Health Services Staff – Provide on-site medical care and promote wellness throughout the camp season.
Culinary and Facilities Teams – Maintain high standards for food service, cleanliness, and maintenance, contributing to the camp’s smooth daily operation.
